Joe Stefanelli and Walter Schembs
Joe Stefanelli/Walter Schembs
On the occasion of his 90th birthday, the gallery shows a retrospective of Joe Stefanellis work with paintings and drawings from the past fifty years. The artist is one of the last living artists of the New York School of Abstract Expressionism and was a student with Hans Hofmann.
The exhibition will also show sculptures by the Worms based artist Walter Schembs (* 1956), who creates works in bronze and wood. His main material, the wood, is crafted with the chain saw. He often looks for thin trunks, traverses or driftwood, from which emerge stylized figures, that are shown in groups or as individuals.
The introduction will be held by Dr. Beate Reifenscheid, Director of the Ludwig Museum at the Deutschherrenhaus Koblenz.
